Musical Director
The musical director oversees any and all musical aspects of the production. The role of musical director is to play harmonies for the cast to learn during rehearsals, give vocal feedback, and work through timing, rhythm, and other musical elements. Playing harmonies for the cast entails practicing and familiarizing yourself with the musical material beforehand and potentially pre-recording tracks of certain harmonies. Giving vocal feedback means guiding the cast towards healthy vocals, proper blending, and good tone. Working through theoretical specifications in the music means identifying difficult terminology and explaining it and giving advice to cast members to help them achieve those musical specifications. On another spectrum, the music director must maintain the creative vision of the director(s), maintain consistency and diligent note keeping to ensure a smooth vocal process, and have a healthily communicative relationship with the cast and production team. This role requires piano experience, music theory experience, and vocal experience in some capacity.
Stage Crew
Stage crew will assist with set up including; painting, construction, and organization under the supervision and request of the director(s) and construction manager. They will move, place, and strike set pieces in a timely and seamless manner. Stage crew must maintain an organized and clean backstage area to ensure smooth shows for cast and crew inclusive. Crew members should be prepared to receive strict direction, especially while rehearsing potentially dangerous scenes or set pieces. They will also have to help with backstage quick changes (when an actor has a fast change from one costume to another). Stage crew requires good communication skills and fast responses in high pressure situations, as you might encounter these situations while crewing. This role does not necessarily require any specific experience.
