Youth Mental Health Resource Cards
The Fifth Wall: Theatre Companies' youth mental advocacy led to working with Kiwanis and School District 23 to create a Youth Mental Health Resource Card. The card was created and distributed to youth throughout the Central Okanagan as an immediate emergency resource for youth in crisis.
Youth Input & Design Committee
The design committee for the resource cards was composed of two youth from each high school in school district 23, along with school counsellors and administrators. Input was also provided by the Kelowna Community Resources Youth Committee and Kiwanis.
Reasoning
The design committee agreed unanimously that youth mental health-specific resources in the Central Okanagan are severely lacking. Thus, the resource card was born. This is a first step of hopefully many to create a far stronger youth mental health support system in the Central Okanagan.
Distribution Event
The Co-Owners of The Fifth Wall: Theatre Company attended the Okanagan Mission Secondary School Relay for Life Event to distribute Resource Cards to youth. With a booth set up at the highly attended event, many resource cards were distributed with very positive reception.
